This doesn't exist in the realm of science.
Money itself was and to some degree is still viewed as having inherent value tied to some material entity. John Locke and other liberal, enlightenment thinkers are to blame for this. As a result, we try to view money has existing in this empircally realm but it doesn't by any means.
There's something called Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) that's kinda flipping the narrative a bit. Pretty much, it posits that any government has a monopoly over the creation and supply of the actual currency. Through this lens, you can view money not as having inherent worth but as a social technology that induces a set of actions.
This book is a pretty good read not on MMT but on how our view of money has changed through history.
