any other physicists find it odd how the FDA measures food energy content? for one “calories” are actually kilocalories. for another the official measurement of calories is done using a piston bomb calorimeter. literally they use a piston to compress the food adiabatically until it literally burns/explodes and they see how much heat comes out. how does that have anything to do with how human digestive tracts work? by that measure wood is a super high calorie food
