I think we are, but also, we are selecting for bigger forms of organization. It seems like compared to primitive forms of society, we are forming ever bigger organizational structures.
For example, focus on the organizational structure part, the economy is growing ever more bigger, but it is also getting concentrated into bigger and bigger corporations.
You can argue that it is a symptom of politics, but I see politics as a byproduct of evolution.
I see rules, laws, and policies we implement as a later step that comes in after we expand towards wherever we relax those laws, and we make rules harsher wherever we see it as a threat towards where the evolutionary force of our collective unconscious guides us.
