I actually think he is the best, in the sense that he probably reaches the most people by really simplifying concepts and giving plenty of analogies. Compared to someone like Tom Scott who just seems like he gets off on being a mid-tier smart guy.

He gets some of the most interesting people alive to talk about their work and interesting philosophical questions in a pretty intimate way, can't see how that makes him a bad interviewer

Guess I'll give him another chance then, it just felt like he was reading questions off a sheet and he didn't really understand a lot so the follow up quesitons weren't that great. I would have preferred to go more in depth in certain topics, he kept things too superficial. Maybe it was just that one interview though.

Yeah I don't really agree with the letter. Is it definitely Ted that wrote it or a larp?
Also, his reasons for studying mathematics aren't exactly right. I don't think people study mathematics to enable technological progress. Technology isn't developed by mathematicians. Also to further knowledge would therefore have to fit under 'entertrianment', and I don't think it's not worthwhile to study for the purpose of increasing your knowledge.

If you set aside the whole many worlds interpretation which makes no difference anyway (it is a question we don't know the answer to) he's pretty good. I think he interacts with the guests on an equal level. His material ends up being understandable to a general audience with some interesting stuff for more advanced listeners (since he's doing it so he himself can learn more as well).
