>5. Is it ethical to try and stop people from harming their neighbor because they think they're the devil ?>6. Is it ethical to drug people when they're in a state where it's impossible for them to give their agreement since all they're doing is screaming obscenities while trying to punch everyone in their vicinity ?Don't know. I've been in mental hospitals, and seen a lot of patients, but I never saw people who tried to harm others - but then again I guess they were probably taken to higher security hospitals.
The patients I saw did not try to harm others. So maybe that's why I don't see the justification for locking them up. Sure, some of them were suicidal, but if you decide to harm or kill yourself, that's your own choice, is it not?
In the case of patients who DO pose a danger to others, I'm inclined to say that they should be treated as any normal criminally responsible adult (that is, leave them free, but lock them if up if they commit a crime). But I guess I've never seen a patient so psychotic that I thought "they shouldn't be held responsible for their actions".
>7. Is it ethical to inject drug to someone repeatedly smashing his head as hard as they can against a radiator that is already full of blood ?Same point as I just said really. It might be sad if someone does that, but it's their choice. Shouldn't we respect their choice? As long as they are not harming anyone else.
