so i went to the doc. said it might be a pilonidal cyst. referred me to a specialist. had to go under and get it fixed surgically. woke up to the bad news of it being a fistula instead and had a rubberband hanging out of my ass. was a nightmare.
regarding fissures: yes, it is possible that they may turn into a fistula. most of the time they won't but there's that chance. so that mild burning sensation after a hard poop may be a (micro)fissure, even if there's no blood.
how can you say yours got infected? i would say have it looked at by your doctor or see a specialist if you notice pus and/or blood. if there is massive swelling and extreme pain, that's definitely a fistula and you'll need to go straight to the ER for that.
