i've always been slender but i think i understand
first of all, everyone has their coping mechanisms which arise through stress, desire for stimulation, boredom
any type of stress will immediately trigger coping mechanism desire
a lot of peoples addictions carry over from youth, parental behavior, or even genetics and gut biome
so overcoming this stuff is probably honestly quite as challenging as heavy narcotics. it's the exact same debate really. so until we understand how to effectively obliterate the addiction process on chosen command, we will keep running into this problem.
>just stop doing heroin broa problem we're going to face going forward was that, in the past, we relied on "masculine" efforts to quell this sort of stuff
which were either law or principle related, or combatative (fight an addiction)
but these types and many more being spawned like them don't have that same constitution or gumption
my main thoughts on it so far are
1. dissociate into nature and very simple living for a time
2. get really into something else
everything is just desire and vices one way or another. some people just get their "fix" from studying, reading, etc.
If we increase mobility in the world then there's less chance people will get stuck and addicted.
if we reduce judgement, negativity, hatred, disgust etc. then we will also reduce the triggering mechanisms that send people back to their addictive behaviors
you don't have to enable everything. but instead of necessarily being anti-this you can be pro-that, and practice more "muting" against behaviors you don't like, with less "attacking" them (though there are still times to go after certain things)
usage of certain drugs also can help. psychedelics and whatnot.
the faster you can get into something, the better.
but if we don't culturally introduce new "masculine" form, then everyone will continue to be on the receptive end of their environment and at its mercy.
