Many studies have found that memories of a text are formed more effectively when you manipulate a physical book while reading that text. I assume many studies will eventually show the opposite, once someone at Amazon figures out it might be profitable for them to finance such studies.

Physical books rot away. They go yellow.

Many books I owned were eaten by Bookworms.

I made the mistake of storying over a hundred books my family owned in cardboard boxes, in a dark moist room, instead of a proper bookcase, that caused a Bookworm infestation. I lost 2/3 of books I had.

For me weight is an important factor.

STEM Books are too heavy to carry around.

You can carry thousands of PDFs in a single Electronic device (Phone, Tablet, Laptop, etc).
Definitely more lightweight.

It's entirely on you. Most people seem to prefer physical books, but there's the fact that e-books are far more practical as you can open them anywhere, and there's no need to carry around a fuckton of books wherever you go

I wish there was a system that would let me get both. Like if I buy a physical textbook (new) then why not just give me a fucking download for a pdf. I like suing physical at home, but carrying around textbooks is annoying.

Adobe Acrobat, it's paid and adobe shit but pdf is literally made by adobe anyways so of course they have the best software to edit them, you can probably easily find it for free on rutracker or whatever

Not a paid shill, but I have a Remarkable tablet and it prints pdfs like ink and lets you zoom in, zoom out, and write over pdfs to your heart's content. There's other similar products on the market as well. The Remarkable is pretty awesome though.
