>>12900379a good analogy would be from say plants. plants soak up water because they need it to live. they’re water “processors” in a sense that they need it to survive. and therefore they grow in ways that make them more capable of exploiting the resource they need to survive. cacti conserve water by having no leaves. broadleaved trees soak up rainwater before it hits the ground by having big water catching leaves. they develop a “perception” of water flows and grow their roots toward more moist areas. humans store and process information rapidly in their giant brains because information gathering and storing is what helps us survive. other creatures like jellyfish are better at their niche by dispensing with perception of complicated information since they can just swallow shit that swims into their mouth. thus i assume the subjective perception of reality jellyfish have is much closer to e.g. rocks than to humans
