Med surg masks (blue foldies) are only standardized to be worn in a temp controlled building for about 1 hour before they are considered contaminated and should be destroyed to prevent respiratory illness. The micron size of these masks is also too porous for coronavirus droplets.

N95s have always been single-use and require training and fit-testing to legally be worn in a hospital. Only these can theoretically stop 100% of coronavirus droplets for about an hour tops before they should also be destroyed.

Both masks require training to use effectively without self-contamination.

Cloth masks have no standardized micron size and offer absolutely no protection from coronavirus except for very large droplets. All this at the cost of applying a rag upon the respiratory tract that does nothing except cultivate bacteria.

Anyone who paid any attention in a formal medical degree SHOULD know this.

The whole two masks debacle is just a testament to how poor the centre-left media machine actually is at reaching the people they allegedly wish to inform. Instead of talking up and rationalizing the importance of just wearing a mask when out and public at all, they tried to create a new purity test about whether or not you're a selfish chud. It just serves to validate the notion that all of this COVID reporting and discourse is preformative, which I resent.

If they truly cared, they would focus on the fact that going to public places is inherently going to be risky, and that wearing a mask just serves to mitigate that risk to yourself and others. Wearing two masks is only slightly less imperfect than wearing one and it's probably not worth the hassle and discomfort. Any benefit goes out the window if you're touching your face to readjust that shit all the time anyway.

Not sure where you're getting that from. Many surgical masks are quite decent filters, the issue is they're loose fitting. If you create a seal around the edges, it becomes far more effective. This is only relevant if SARS-CoV-2 spreads through aerosols.
