I keep thinking on this scenario:
A complex object from the present (ie an iPhone or a nuclear bomb) is found by humans 5, 10 or 30 centuries ago. Excluding outcomes like destruction or loses by accident, how such finding would have altered our History and scientific development?
I am intrigued by those claims that finding advance Alien tech would be an equal challenge: trying to operate something that looks like magic, precisely because several disciplines (encryption, transistors, nuclear physics, etc.) are required before even comprehending what the object is capable of.
I also see fear and greed taking over, especially if the object end up hurting someone for unexplained reasons or looks valuable. My vote goes to it being kept in a vault in secret as most possible outcome.
