The Brain Buzz

Does this happen to anybody? It's that period between sleep and wakefulness with eyes closed at the time I imagine people talk about lucid dreaming (although I've never been able to do this) and either random and completely unexpected images form in the mind's eye or it's a vista of infinitely complex geometric shapes that constantly change, morph and reform in to different configurations, which I find is very strange. Then something happens to put me back in to a brief state of full wakefulness and at this moment there's this energy wave I can feel inside my mind at a high frequency audible only to me, I would describe it like an electric shock only it's not in any way painful and has no physical effect. Does anyone experience this? What is it in medical terms? I did a brief search of the internet some years ago and saw people referring to it as 'the brain buzz'. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Obviously I could talk to someone in person about it but if it isn't something they're aware of it's going to sound very strange talking about it.
