Am I the only one who find prime numbers extremely unsettling? Why are they so random and strange? You can formalize all the behaviors of natural numbers very easily using something like peano arithmetic, and you get a system that seems to behave very rationally and simply, but then BOOM these things appear, that are random and complicated, but still very simple and "atomistic".
