Would it be possible to realistically build fission nuclear reactors that would be portable? I'm interested because of what was put inside the perseverance rover and other spacecraft.

Yeah they were planning on building them in Canada for northern communities that have problems with power, it'd help powering water plants and solve tons of issues, but people were screaming nooo you can't have nuclear power so it was never done.

Thats not a fission reactor. Its a thermoelectric battery powered by decay heat. No fission is happening in there
