Its not that hard to up your wage with safe (but relatively insane) betting odds on stable systems. Eg the US election: 1-4% on ALL the deep red states in 2020, you make less interest on a current account. Then just put the money in sensible long term investments like land, tools or other skills etc. I'm not lazy, I just hate stress, so it would have been stupid to do engineering!
