>>12887863I wouldn't be a millionaire, but a few years ago I lost about $400,000 dollar that I should have inherited from my dad when he died. My mom, who did not raise me, and who had been divorce from by dad for 12 years at the time of his death, turned the situation into a huge multi-case legal battle that cost me about $200,000. In the end, my mom was awarded like $30,000 and I inherited like 170,000, but over the 3 years it took to settle the legal battle, I had spent about $60,000, so I was left with a little over $100,000.
I would have been able to buy a house, and settle down comfortably. Actually, I could have gotten a really nice house, fully paid off, with some acreage, and I would have been more than happy to assist my mom. Instead, she tried to literally lie to the courts and take control of my dads entire estate. I'm still living off the money that I inherited, and I'm currently in grad school for mathematics, but I'm a single father, living with my two year old daughter in a trailer park.
A big part of it is politics. I'm a liberal, but a fairly rational, honest, pro-free speech liberal, and I dislike corporations, the military, and globalism. My mom is the opposite. She is a woke leftist who hates men and white people, and a big part of her reasoning was that she was owed the money because she was a women who was exploited and mistreated by evil men her whole life, my dad being simply the most prominent example. So basically, I would pretty pretty close to a millionaire (half way there, anyhow), if my mom was not a self-absorbed SJW who felt like she was entitled to my dad's estate.
