My degree might enable me to get a bullshit 9-5 office job as a ‘sales advisor’ of some description which will help me pay off my debt and consume sugar, but given the economy consists of 40 million ‘sales advisors’ (I’m in britbong land) that’s nothing to boast about.
That being said, getting a STEM degree might be useless with your advancing of AI. The computer scientists will be among the first to loose their jobs with the advent of self replicating and improving AI.
Maybe we’re all fucked and the Information Revolution was a mistake, who knows
