believing in one makes you a better person so long as it includes preconditions that must be fulfilled to have a good afterlife, any afterlife that is free and unnecessary of effort is a harmful one, and these ideas should be combated. not by theological arguments, but simply by reason, as nihilistic and unlimited freedom ideologies always lead the believer to do evil.
and by not having belief in an afterlife, the believer must either live with the knowledge that only forgetful and temporary humans must remember his works and suffer (i.e. marcus aurelius), or will be convinced that there is no reason to do good in this life and will have propensity towards suicide or self-hatred, which leads to hatred towards others.
