But I think the real problem is democracy: what could possibly go right in a system where you need to convince more than half the people that X deserves or doesn’t deserve public funding, considering the average mental ability of most people? If there was less taxes, then more money could be spent by private entities, but with such high taxes it is a tragedy that the majority decides what to spend them on.
