Whenever I have self immolating policies like lockdown justified to me, the phrase ‘the Science’ inevitably crops up, eg ‘We need to follow The Science™‘. Does this piss anyone else off, considering how any idea of The Science™ is about as unscientific as you can get, viewing ‘Science’ as this morphous deity which issues directives and contains a single universal truth?
‘The Science’ could be used to try and contain a relatively mild respiratory virus, but it could conversely be used to create a mutated highly virulent version of the Bubonic Plague, it has no concept of subjective moral judgements like >we have to shut down society to save 0.0006 grandmas!
My theory is that ‘the Science’ is simply the modern secularised adaption of humans turning to deities and superstition in times of chaos in search of clarity and simple answers, idk what do you lads think.
