This. Sometimes you just have to say something that will make your critics realize they are simply too fucking dumb to understand your work. I have learned the hard way that if you try to dumb it down to their level then they will give you the most retarded and irrelevant critique imaginable. I am fucking done playing nice with retarded professors. I'm not an academic but for what I have read my enjoyment and interest is mostly proportional to how much I need to struggle to understand it. however when I know exactly what you're saying and you still try to sound smart it negates the intended effect, if you use the word 'decidedly' then you're clearly just trying to sound overly wordy as opposed to using as many precise and technically loaded terms in order to meticulously convey unambiguous meaning to the point those less linguistically proficient than the author are bewildered by the density of information
