Most of the market only cares about whether they can double their growth numbers next quarter; and fuck what happens in 5 years or 10 years. The irony is that he very much operates in the same model as the rest of the market of growing QoQ/YoY, but instead requires that science and technology drive those numbers rather than market lobbying and subsidies.
If you took away oil and gas subsidies to big auto, car prices would sky rocket and a lot of car companies would go bankrupt or be bought by the bigger players leading to major market consolidations like its happened in ISP space. Most people don't realize how largely subsidized large parts of the current market are.
