If you're a materialist about psychology. Psychoanalysis wasn't too bad even if it didn't have another good Renaissance. It gave us a lot of material implications to work with like subconscious etc

science is doing experiments and writing down your findings
engineering is then applying that found knowledge
so psychology is engineering
