They then had a repeat round with the changed parameters, and in that round I improved significantly, I was adapting to the new rules. I've played games like this before, where the rules and tasks change midway through, it's a common thing with brain games. It's a major stress to the brain to adapt to new rules when you're also told to be as fast as possible, mistakes happen even if there's no bias involved.
