College was created a very long time ago when information was harder to access so you needed to listen to intelligent people explaining how to do things. But now it has been turned into a lucrative business that treats students like factory workers with numbers rather than names and all the information is on the internet anyways. The only people who do good in modern university are the people that were smart enough to figure the stuff out in the first place by researching the subject on the internet or reading textbooks.

All you need to do is buy books and use the internet to research things these days if you are smart. College is just a formality that has become part of the system.

And as such the professors are lazier and the students are lazier too. Because they know it's just about getting a piece of paper.

I remember when I was back in college the teacher would take attendance by giving everybody a digital device that they would need to use each day in class to prove they were there, but several students would just give their device to one guy and he would come in and the system would mark everybody as present. And I actually showed-up to every class but I was marked absent several times because of random negligence from the professor's fault.
