flow = you have a vat filled with liquid fuel, you constantly top off with new fuel and drain old fuel.
Batch was better because you have more control, stronger reactions and more heat for less fuel. It was favoured when it was still technologically hard to keep a reaction going.
flow is better because its safer. No meltdowns because the fuel is already molten, (like molten salt or something) its technically less efficient on the fuel, but who cares, nuclear fuel is dirt cheap, and we have come to a point where spent fuel can either be fully reprocessed into new fuel or used up in industry.
