This part is esp. interesting in light of Greg Fahy's TRIM protocol for thymus rejuvenation.
Fahy hasn't said much (if anything) about Alzheimer's, but he is confident that given the results of his TRIM trials, he has succeeded in rejuvenating the thymus in people advanced in age.
Which is relevant since Alzheimer's may actually be a disease of immune senescence.
This is suggested by the links to things like periodontal disease and latent herpes viral infections as risk factors, and the efficacy of herpes meds in preventing its onset:

(there's a registered clincal trial ongoing now studying this).
So it's possible that in the near future, contrary to what Bret suggests, Alzheimer's could be thwarted by strengthening the aging immune system (eg with thymus rejuvenation), or with anti-viral medications.

His paper is nonsense, Aubrey rebutted his paper decisively. Bret's paper wasn't even considered in the MIT technology review decision because it wasn't considered scientific (lmao). Basically what Bret said in the paper was "Yeah, maybe we can fix the aging damage, but I'm gonna make wildly speculative claims about memories and the brain and therefore we shouldn't cure aging!" Bret also went off the rails on Joe Rogan and promoted a schizo conspiracy theory on lab mice telomeres, without actually understanding the reasoning behind why. Even if any of Bret's claims were correct, that still doesn't doesn't mean we shouldn't cure aging, because we could handle future problem when we actually get there. We have a problem today, and I want to fix it, not pay attention to ghastly speculations about the future.

Define "capacity". Is capacity 'used up' when we go from a 50 year old to a 60 year old?
People with Alzheimer's have awful memory and a low IQ because of the disease, fixing aging would fix that problem, and therefore we would actually ENHANCE memory and iq for the population. Since we know that centenarians can survive with good memories and self identity, then that means we could take the average lifespan from 80->120 without any memory problems, thereby GAINING 40 extra years of good memory and brain capacity per person. Bret is just too retarded to realize this.

It probably already exists. All supercentenarians have not had catastrophic memory fragmentation, unless it was from intracellular/extracellular aggregates from Alzheimer's. Since nothing bad happens from 80->120 (that isn't related to aggregates/plaque), then I don't see why anything catastrophic should happen from 120->160 from an emergent macro level. Let's not forget that these 120 year olds would also have the youth of a 20 year old in addition to not having Alzheimer's, so the brains and memory will be even better than the supercentenarians, and probably last even longer.

Memory fragmentation already happens, but who gives a fuck, you keep your important memories that cause you to have an identity. I bet you don't remember EVERYTHING from your favorite TV show, you remember bits and pieces, fragments, that doesn't stop you from killing yourself, now does it? The brain recycles important memory and has an incredible ability to do so. If 120 year old Jean Caulment remembers almost everything from her childhood and her family as opposed to a 90 year old, then why should a 140 year old be much different? Maybe a 200 year old might forget stuff, but by that point we would probably just solve that problem w/ BCI's or memory enhancements.

Histological entropy happens in complex pathologies that are in the latest stages. The whole point of Anti-aging is to intervene EARLIER, and prevent those structural macro-complexities from emerging. Bret doesn't realize he's actually arguing against himself here.

Bret got famous by being shit on for looking white while teaching at Evergreen State. That's why Rogan had him on his podcast. While there, he plugged his brother, who Rogan later also had on. Both have more fame than is natural for their level of accomplishments but fame is rarely doled out based on accomplishments anyway. They'll both fade away because neither is good at producing anything new of value. They're novelties whose welcome will wear out pretty quickly.

At least they talk about free speech and censorship and stuff though.
Also, it's cool that Eric knows about shit like COINTELPRO, Rex84, and Operation Northwoods. But in terms of their scientific accomplishments, they've been completely negligible.
BTW I just graduated from The Evergreen State College. I also took a class with one of the few professors who defended Brett, although Brett himself was gone by the time I got to Evergreen.

I agree Bret's claims in this SENS paper don't seem credible, but the lab mice telomere paper contains legitimate claims that aren't too speculative: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11909679/

Aubrey is a really smart guy. Biologist who solved a maths problem in his spare time and he really shows he knows what he's talking about here.
