Will "I" cease to exist forever after I die? Will "I" (my consciousness) ever come into existence again?

If the answer to the above is yes and no, respectively, what is the purpose of doing anything at all ever? If I cease to exist entirely, never to return or to be reincarnated as another consciousness, why should I contribute to the scientific advancement of humanity? Why should I care if future generations invent immortality or colonize all of space? I don't care if it will never affect me in any way.

So if you also believe what I believe, why do you still study STEM? Why bother to do shit ever?
