In his online lectures he applies Jungian psychology to a modern framework. Occasionally he’ll go on philosophical tangent where he quotes from a combination of the Bible, Dostoyevsky, and a soviet author that wrote bad things about gulags, but the only “philosophy” he’s created on his own are those self help books where he takes 300 pages to tell people to be confident and take responsibility for themselves.
The man’s obviously intelligent. His psychological insights are fascinating and he used to be great at debating clueless journalists, but his “debate” with Zizek pretty much exposed him as a charlatan regarding things outside of his field. Also, as he was a clinician with the power to prescribe drugs, the fact that he became so deeply dependent on benzodiazepines make you scratch your head a bit.
