Most people are basically golem. "NPC" is just the new "golem". They are slaves to language. Something comes saying the magic words "I am" and that becomes the truth and identity, and they believe in it. Something comes dressed in the right clothes, they believe in it. They hear the word and they think they know. They see the sight and they think they understand. Paint a man a picture from one angle and he will fight you to the death, paint it from another angle and put it in another frame, he's all about it. No change in actual substance.

Therefore, the two core problems in man are also the solution. The desire to be seen, and the desire to know. Both of these core drives are hijacked. And it is from this that many of our problems stem.
