I can understand energy from a caloric perspective because how long a fire burns is a high energy process one can witness and measure realistically.

However when we get to other energy types how do we really know what we're measuring?

Like how does one even setup an energy detection device and create a narrative for that device to prove this idea called energy? Isn't energy something that can be proven an infinite number of ways?
