There are plenty of quacks within Chiro (as there are in literally every medical discipline) but the claims about Chiropractic care being worthless are as exaggerated as many of the overhyped claims specific Chiropractors have made.
It's pretty unlikely that adjustments on your spine are going to reduce your risk of cancer, but there's a reason DO's exist and why many Chiropractic clinics have DO's. Many of the basic ailments people have are due to a combination of psychosocial issues and muscle imbalances/injuries. I see no reason Chiropractic care can not address either one of these. Cracking your back, deep tissue massage, exercise and encouraging people to drink enough water is like 90% of what competent Chiropractors do, and there's no reason to believe that is insufficient to address most people's back pain.
