Not a /sci/entist so excuse any inaccuracies. If an object or area has been exposed to radiation, for how long will detectable levels of radiation linger? Are there certain factors this depends on, and which? I'm asking because I have ground for suspicion that a few years ago a street in my town was exposed to a burst of radiation and I would like to purchase a geiger counter and investigate this.
