I'm sure you've seen this shit flying around the internet, but how tf does it work? Surely it cant just be a DC motor with a stator that can retract, right? I've already gotten an explanation of the concepts involved, but how is it achieved!? Are those things magnets at the top of each armature loop? If not, what is the brown padding thing?

I'm so confused!
