Scientifically speaking, is it possible for a man and a woman to have a platonic relationship? I think no because one will usually want to fuck the other. In the event there is no attraction, the completely different ways men and women think will cause them to either argue, or drift apart once one of them enters a stable relationship with the other sex.

or if 1 is so far out of the other's league they're more like cousins and both can cope with this

This happens in groups of friends more often than not, especially when this group of friends consists of couples or friends who used to be single and are now in a relationship.

hmm i would argue that teaching or business relationship aren't platonic or romantic. i'd argue all these forms of bonding require social cohesion, but you can operate businesses without that. interesting take on the romantic aspect transforming to platonic over time

Anecdotally speaking, yes.

It isn't too hard to consciously overcome sexual urges, especially if you can satisfy them elsewhere. Most people in general suck, so if you can find someone who doesn't suck, it is nice to maintain a relationship with that person, even if it means just not fucking.

It helps if you have things to offer each other, especially career related. I have a female friend (basically an ex boss) who helped land me a job and now also helps me acquire certain resources. It's good to have allies.
