>>12834845>>12834861My plan upon starting my undergrad was always to study biological engineering. I quickly developed an interest and aptitude for chemistry, however, as well as chemical engineering, and wanted to leave the avenue open. Had my college offered a ChemE program I would have taken it, but that wasn't the case. The plan is to argue to admissions officials or employers that I have comparable training and preparation to that of a chemical engineering graduate (meaning one who has completed their undergrad in ChemE.)
I'm confident that with Bio + Chem OR Biochem, I can make a strong case for myself out of my undergraduate career for chemical engineering positions meant for college graduates. My goal posting here was to get some idea on whether biochemistry or chemistry would be the major of interest for chemical engineering, and if biochemistry would detract from my employability in this case.
In terms of flipping burgers, I've found job openings for chemical engineering graduates, so I'm confident there is something open insomuch as I can argue that I'm capable of performing well in such a job.
