Why the fuck did I put so much effort into getting into data analytics when I could just teach basic calc and trig to teenagers and be home by 4.

Is this the biggest scam in the world or do people actually struggle so much with math that high school math teachers have this much leverage?

The highest paid teacher at my hs is the calc BC teacher and is the only one to break the 6 figure barrier. This is on the west coast and i think every teacher at the school is required to be in the union.

I looked up my rich suburban highschool district and all the tenured teachers were making over six figures. Much more if they were a teams coach. Also keep in mind they get a pension and only work 9 months out of the year. Still not enough to make me consider that job.

I do not understand algebra onwards.

I can do basic counting and adding math easily, but whenever I ever did algebra is was hit and miss like my solutions I tried to learn were based on luck rather than a defined solution.
Never have I ever had anyone in almost a dozen teachers be able to make anything click in my brain, not for a lack of trying.

As soon as I ever tried to learn it my mind would blank and turn into spaghetti on its own.
Why am I like this anons?

Yes, it's the same here in NZ. It's because the majority of teachers are women who have convinced themselves they're bad at math when really they've never just sat down and taugh themselves basic high-school shit. It means there's a giant shortage of willing math teachers relative yo any other kind of teacher so they have to offer decent salaries to attract math teachers or incentivise anyone to fill the role.

I'm about to finish my math degree and I plan to go through the year of teachers training and just teach part time for a regular income while I fuck around doing whatever I want with the rest of my time.
