If you want to anthropomorphize evolution, it doesn't particularly care what happens to people after they have and raise their kids.
People used to die in their late 20s / early 30s all the time, because they simply didn't need to live any longer.
It's the same reason why we're not able to fight off cancer, despite our T cells being more than capable of doing so - we didn't live long enough on average for cancer survival rates to matter.
