2. Nobody really knows anything going into introductory level courses. If you have a pulse you'll do just fine. If you have to get a head start, sure, Khan academy is fine. Your first year of Chemistry will consist of the following topics to name a few:
-Basic subatomic particles and atomic structure
-Basic notation for elements, isotopes, compounds
-3D structure of atoms based off electronic structures and configurations
-Electronic configurations, orbitals, bonds
-Acids and bases, calculating pH, pKa, concentrations, etc
-Basic chemical thermodynamics (enthalpy of formation etc)
-A week worth of nuclear chem
-A week worth of ochem
-A week worth of electrochem
The most important topics for future coursework will be acid and base chemistry as long as you also gain a basic understanding of electronic sharing and pairing. Expect the majority of your second semester and some of your first semester to focus some bit on acids and bases.
