The point isn't that everyone will continue into the future. The point is that, in a No True Scotsman kind of way, progress is by definition the only way forward. However, progressives are often as conservatives in terms of not being progressive--how are reparations proper financial investments toward the future? They are not, they are literally conservative in looking into a past that clearly can never be balanced.
Both progressives and conservatives are obsessed with the past. Honestly, the way forward is acknowledging the Western Experiment has evolved into East Asian productivity. What a twist.
