Likewise, belief in free makes it so that people are more willing to act for themselves and thus have more agency as individuals.
I also think the debate is flawed, since free will is going to rely on belief (and basically faith). Meanwhile, determinism is going to be the natural conclusion of most scientific thinking, but I think that is a product of methodology more than actual truth-seeking. This is because science seeks to determine the cause of an effect, so determinism will seem more valid simply because one can find a cause for any individual's actions, whether they were acting out of their own free will or not.
