If it's a standard method, you don't mention it.
If it's a non-standard method that someone did first, say, 'using the method from [ref],' etc. While deriving the method might seem cool, it is usually better to have a lot of references to give the impression that your paper is well researched and relevant.
It also depends on the field. If it's biology, then 1+1 might be about the right speed and should be included. But even then you put that shit in an appendix so you don't scare them from the get go.
