Why is diferential geometry so hard and unintuitive? I even stryuggle with basic stuff like tensor transformation rules and the Einstein summation convention.

Because you have skipped the historical development, you should study differential geometry of 2-dimensional manifolds embedded in 3d space as were the original studies, and see how all the theorems fit. Generalizing goes much easier.
Also, whoever said math is a language is a liar. Math books are verbose.

it's not. you either don't understand linear algebra and multivariable calculus well enough, or you're looking at things from a wrong perspective (see >>12820276).

It's a matter of practice. I used to be in denial when I saw Einstein summation, because wtf dude that's so opaque. Now I immediately see a pleb when they use sigmas on both sides of the equation and the indices are obvious. Solve problems, read more, and you'll be good.
