>>12831737Phenibut is a weird drug. I took it for about 9 months pretty much everyday (1-5g p/d, usually around 2-2.5) and had to quit for a week long vacation. After a short taper I quit temporarily. I didn't notice that many big side effects other than some rebound anxiety, some craving and irritability. Maybe there would've been other side effects after a week? Maybe I got shit phenibut? Unlikely as I bought from mainstream websites.
I'm not in any way a hardcore guy who can "tough it out" better. I was also concurrently quitting kratom which seemed a lot harder 2bqh. I had to taper that over 2 weeks and got a lot of cravings, some mild typical physical symptoms (running nose, slightly under the weather etc). Having to quit both together maybe added to things. I was also drinking on vacation, maybe that hid some effects.
I'm not sure companies could freely sell this on a large scale if you could get big withdrawals in 3 days. It would be up there with the most physically addictive drugs if you could become dependent in such a time. The "supplement" companies often state on the label not to take more than 3 days in a row, they're likely being conservative.
That said tho, it is a weird drug and some people have rough symptoms after a relatively short time and you SHOULD err on the side of caution but without psyching yourself out if you quit. Another variable is the time it takes to kick in. 15 mins for some, hours for others. Which adds to its subjectivity. I don't think GABAb receptor agonists are as well studied as popular GABAa positive allosteric modulators like booze, benzos, z-drugs etc. They're two different proteins types as well.
Incidentally, this article talks about some of the GABAa sub types and suggested contributions to benzo effects (pic related). I don't pretend to understand all of it (obviously..), and the true picture is super complicated (at least 15 different GABAa subunits alone).
