Help me out with finding out some details of the current crop of vaccines.
I want to figure out an estimate of how many S proteins a single dose of say the pfizer vaccine produces.
So that functional protein amounts from a single dose of mRNA vaccine can be compared to a single dose of classical recombinant protein vaccines.
This thread isn't for discussing vaccine pros and cons, it's just for the pure mechanisms of in vivo/vitro mechanisms of it.
Details I've found so far
>The spike protein (S) is encoded by 3831 base pairs of the SARS-CoV-2 RNA
>it's approximately 330 daltons per subunit so it's around 1.2 million daltons per strand.
>a single mRNA strand can be translated into multiple proteins at the same time, the ribosomes can link up like a queue of cars on it.
Details I want to know.
>How many strands are in a given dose of say pfizer vaccine? I don't find detailed breakdowns of vaccine content.
>How many protein copies does a single strand result in once in a cell? There have to be in vitro estimates done but I don't find them.
Are there any good resources out there for the pure pharmacodynamic data of the current crop of vaccines? Google just feed my garbage popsci articles.
