If i was a geologist i would look for salt because there will always be a market for salt. People like the taste on their food. I refer of course to sodium chloride with trace amounts of diverse minerals.

knew a girl who did environmental science. Her knowledge of sciences and mathematics were primary-school tier and when I asked her why she went into it she said "I wanted to save the planet". It's literally the STEM equivalent to gender studies.

I don't know whether I should become an MD or a chemist. I like research and I like medicine and although treating patients is something I don't mind and can see myself enjoying doing I still prefer research. What should I do? Is it possible to become an MD and then completely focus on research in medicine based around chemistry?

I really regret studying molecular biology. Even with 3 years of undergraduate research experience and other jobs. I don't think I will have any chance at getting any employment upon graduation. Not only am I a 6'3" white male, but the lab jobs pay less than an Amazon warehouse slave.

I've taken a class in bioinformatics, but I'm just not autistic enough for the computer shit compared to real nerds. Maybe because it was taught in R. My research professor outright wanted computer science majors for undergrad research instead of us biofags, which was why I was the only undergrad in his lab.

Business degrees might actually be worse than liberal arts and social science because unlike those two boomers actually think business and MBA and certs like Six Sigma actually help your career. At least with Econ, you can say that it is math.

What is even worse with business is that you can't go back into STEM. Whereas if you dislike one STEM job, you can switch, but with business you are not just stuck with business, you are automated out of the job market.

All you need is basic R and basic command line, you don't even really need to know python. Just use other people's tools. Compsci makes the tools, biol applies them.

When I said that Math and Physics are "Neither overrated nor underrated" I mean that They get about the right amount of respect and disdain they deserve.

Being a Math or Physics professor is well respected by society for their High IQ.
Math & Physics PhDs are hard degrees to get.
But the pay is generally less than Engineers, so not very efficient or rewarding for the effort they put into it in Grad School.

Earning less than Engineers sucks, but I don't think they deserve more, but they should not earn any less.

Entrepreneurship comes with risks.
Energy is a stable, well-paying career that will let you with comfortably anywhere.

Not to mention that when you're your own boss, you always have to be working or nothing gets done. If you're on salary, you can shitbag it roughly 60% of the time without anyone noticing.
