We must be moving at SOME speed away from the arbitrary "pin drop".

Surely that is easy to calculate.

If you let go of the pin without applying force to it, and you didn't have a force applied to yourself, then you would both continue in the same frame of reference. Energy is needed to change frames of reference (I think, right?)

there is literally no answer to your question. space isn't a mapped grid you're moving through, you just move around relative to other stuff around you.
the andromada galaxy is hurdeling towards us at a pretty well known rate. you spin around the milky way at a pretty well known rate.
i don't know about anything more than that, but you could google it

BUT... one thing you could consider is the speed of causality (speed of light). If we were moving anywhere near that speed in any direction, we would see the universe elapse at a much more rapid pace than us. the fact you don't see certain clusters of the sky have an abnormally large amount of supernovas compared to other clusters means that nothing is moving around anywhere near that speed (most of the shit is just suspended and floating around, unless it get's really close to a black hole).
