I was diagnosed with clinical obesity during a routine doctor visit in 2018. I was shocked and saddened by my diagnosis. I have struggled every day since then with my illness. This is a very difficult and complex malady, and my disease has affected every part of my life since then. I hope that science will be able to develop a cure for my ailment in the future.

And yet, as I explore online and in real-life, I am finding more and more sufferers of this affliction. This disfiguring medical disorder of obesity is affecting many millions. And the number who share this infirmity only seems to be increasing. Why is this, /sci/? Mass-trends are often the result of public policy rather than individual decisions. Why has this particular sickness become so common in recent decades?
