Tell me if this makes any sense: It's like a second pair of eyes you can look to while seeing with your regular eyes. It's super weird because you can overlay the two pairs at the same time but they don't "actually" overlap. That is the minds eye as I experience it.
The second pair is never physically interfering with what my eyes are seeing. It makes sense that when I close my eyes, I see only blackness, it's because my eyes are closed. The fact that my eyes are seeing black has nothing to do with what the other pair is seeing.
