When you calculate the osmolarity of a solution, why doesnt it add up with the actual measurement?
For example, D5 has 50g glucose/L, that's 278mOsm/L, 0.45 saline is 154 according to it. Then how come the D5+0.45S solution is listed as having 405mOsm/L? How could I reliably estimate the osmolarity of a mixture i do if I don't have the commercial 0.45S+D5 saline in stock?
